Obtain applications - from guidance counselor/through the mail, from college fairs - visits

Online from college websites.

See your counselor to obtain teacher recommendation forms, & student activity sheets.

Return completed applications, along with check/money order to your counselor as SOON AS POSSIBLE- The counselor will mail them for you along with your transcript.

(DO NOT MAIL APPLICATIONS ON YOUR OWN - the counselor must include the transcript!!)

--If you apply online, you must tell your counselor. He/she must still send your high school transcript, recommendation letters and other supporting documents to the admissions office.

Return completed recommendation forms/activity sheets to your counselor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Keep in touch with your counselor on a regular basis - he/she is there to help you with each step of the application process.

Check weekly bulletins for available scholarships/financial aid and notices of college/school visitors/college fairs.

Apply for financial aid using the Free Financial Aid Form for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA available in the guidance office after Jan. 1ST.

Earn the best grades you can this year - many schools will ask to see your MID-YEAR GRADES.

WHEN IN DOUBT, ASK FOR HELP. Keep your counselor informed about acceptances/rejections - honors/awards - scholarships received, etc. MALE STUDENTS MUST REGISTER FOR-- SELECTIVE SERVICE--in order to be eligible for Financial Aid and to avoid fines and jail!
